In celebration of Virgin Islands history, Westline Productions Inc. and Coors Light present the VI Pride Mini Festival at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2004 at Emile Griffith Park. The all day and night event is free and will showcase local food and drinks, musicians, artists and arts and crafts. Tony Rosario of Westline said everything will be made locally. Featured entertainers will be Xpress Band of St. Croix; Milo's Kings, Rising Stars Steel Orchestra and quadrille dancers of St. Thomas; Koko and the Sunshine Band, St. John; Ronnie Rascal, St. Kitts; One Blood, Dominica; Fogarate, Puerto Rico; Dimension Latina, Dominican Republic; and Lashing Dogs, Tortola. Professional technicians from the stats will create staging and lighting unlike any seen here before, Rosario said. And a pyrotechnic display will light up the sky after dark. Also features will be old-time cars and lots of old-time games. Besides family fun, Rosario said the purpose of the event is to educate Virgin Islanders about Virgin Islands history. The main organizers are Glen "Kwabena" Davis and Dorothy Elskoe. Sponsors include Palms Court Harborview, V.I. Port authority and Snapper Trucking. |
