Jose 'Tony' Rosario

Westline Productions, Inc. is the brainchild of Jose Rosario, a native Virgin Islander whose love for music inspired him to start Westline in 1979 when he was a teenager.

The company began as a grassroots Disc Jockey group, providing entertainment for parties and special events. Its reputation grew steadily, and the group soon became popular among teenagers and young adults. This led to bookings throughout the Virgin Islands, the Caribbean and the mainland.

Initially, Westline was simply an enjoyable hobby for Rosario. However, he discovered that he could develop a niche for himself in the entertainment industry, as entertainment activities were extremely limited in the Virgin Islands, primarily because of a lack of aggressive marketing.  At that time, Virgin Islanders rarely got an opportunity to see musical performances by high-profile artists or to experience different art forms. Hence, most of their experiences were limited to what they saw on television or in the movies. Rosario set out to improve the quantity and quality of entertainment in the Virgin Islands and create a vibrant social environment that would appeal to residents and visitors of all ages and ethnicities.

Rosario decided to make Westline Production a full-time career. Rosario has since built a prestigious clientele that includes entertainers, politicians, private corporations, government agencies and nonprofit organizations.

Prior to working full-time with Westline, Rosario, who has a third degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, taught martial arts for 10 years at the Fighting Dragon Tae Kwon Do Institute on St. Thomas, a school he co-founded. Rosario has won several regional and international martial arts competitions.

Rosario also worked for 15 years at Caribbean Host, a liquor store on St. Thomas. He started working at the store as a stock clerk after he graduated from high school, and moved his way up the ranks to the position of store manager. This experience allowed Rosario to obtain invaluable managerial and leadership skills.

Rosario is committed to his community and donates the services of Westline Productions whenever possible to assist nonprofit organizations and government agencies with their funding-raising activities. Westline also contributes to other worthwhile causes aimed at curtailing crime, and educating and developing youths in the Virgin Islands.

Rosario, a sports enthusiast, is the president of the Virgin Islands Amateur Boxing Association. He is also fluent in Spanish.
